After a long wait for fashion's most iconic week, I know without a doubt everyone was excited to see what the designers brought to the runway for 2021 New York Fashion Week. From designers like Jason Wu to Michael Kors, I can tell you without a doubt that every designer brought their best spring/summer 2022 collection. Although there were many significant collections, my top two favorites were Michael Kors and Jason Wu. Both collections created an elegant feminist look but were executed in two different ways.

Michael Kors Collection Overview:

Michael Kors showcased his collection in Central Park and did not disappoint. Most of the collection consisted of neutrals, for example, black, tan, and white with pops of red and light pink. Although most of his collection consisted of black, he still executed a classy spring/summer collection. Most of the collection consisted of pantsuit sets, pencil skirts, and dresses. He was modernizing the American women's silhouette. Kendall Jenner looked excellent in a two-piece set featuring a beautifully tailored pencil skirt and bra. Kors was able to achieve a classy look with a 21st century spin on it. My favorite piece from the collection was an oversized white pantsuit with sequins on the collar and down the side of the pants topped off with a V-shaped sequin bra. Kors did a great job of executing a pantsuit while also adding a feminist touch to the piece. Overall, we can tell those neutrals are back for spring/summer 2022, and I am here for it.

Jason Wu Collection Overview:

Jason Wu was not afraid to bring all the colors for his spring/summer 2022 collection. His collection consisted of many sets and dresses with beautiful floral designs, which added an elegant touch to his collection. My favorite look from his collection was an all-yellow ballgown that featured balloon sleeves off the shoulder, creating a beautiful dainty bust line. Wu was not afraid to go big in this collection and incorporated sequins. Another one of my favorites was a straight midi all sequin slip dress. Wu did a great job of mixing beautiful spring colors. The sequin added different sparkles every time the model walked, creating an overall elegant look during the show. This dress was made for confidence and was very well executed.

Overall, the energy at New York Fashion Week was excellent; from top models to the most fashionable celebrities, New York was the place to be last week. After a year off due to the Pandemic, New York was ready to showcase what it does best, fashion. It was a breath of fresh air to be able to see normalcy after the Pandemic. I cannot wait to see the spring/summer trends after viewing these two collections.
